Most people have never even heard of the number one team in the country, Mississippi State. To be fair, they have never been news worthy. Never in the history of the school’s football program have they been number one in the country. But this year they are making a statement. Their high powered offense, lead by superstar quarterback Dak Prescott, has consistently put up high amounts of points. Their lowest point total this season is seventeen against Arkansas. It’s not as if this team are playing mediocre opponents. They have beat teams like LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M. With four regular season games left this season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are in the drivers seat towards the first ever NCAA Football Playoffs. But these last four games will not be easy. They play the always dangerous Alabama Crimson Tide and in state rival Ole Miss, both of which are top ten teams. I would love to see this team win a national championship and prove all of the doubters wrong. But in my opinion, they won’t win. Their defense has been nothing more than OK this season. They constantly give up twenty plus points a game. If they go against Florida State for the BCS National Championship, they will not be able to stop Jameis Winston and his incredible receiving core. That being said, I do still have them beating both Alabama and Ole Miss and winning the SEC championship. But, in the world of college football, anything can happen.
